Thurgarton

Thurgarton is a small hamlet dating back to Saxon times.  It is nestled on the edge of the picturesque village of Aldborough with its post office, shop, pub and historic village green.

Thurgarton Church is a 14th century Grade 1 listed building located at the top of the track. Just leave the house, walk up the track and turn right. It is known for its ornate carved bench ends, which include gryphons, musicians playing the bagpipes and dragons. On the wall are fragments of Elizabethan texts.

The stunning North Norfolk coast, much of which is an Area of Outstanding Beauty, is just fifteen minutes drive away.  The barn is roughly equidistant from the cafes and shops in the Georgian town of Holt and the coastal resort of Cromer with its famous pier, zoo and links golf club. It is an ideal base from which to explore North Norfolk’s beaches, nature reserves and take in its big skies.

Windham’s lies at the centre of a large working farm and is surrounded by fields and quiet lanes that are ideal for cycling and walking. Red and Muntjac deer, barn owls, and buzzards are regularly seen from inside.
